The highest peak in the state of West Bengal, India at a height of 3636 mtrs (11,941 ft) Sandakphu (also called Sandakfu or Sandakpur) is located close Darjeeling. You can decide to take a vehicle or enjoy a magnificent trek to the true Trekkers Paradise. It is on the West Bengal-Nepal border. The peak is actually located in the Singalila National Park with options of just a few hostels.

The name comes from the shape of the mountain which seems like a Buddha’s head and folded hands on his chest. Locals people call it the “Sleeping Buddha” and feel connected with the divine. As a trekker, this is like a jackpot and the trek is considered the holy grail of Indian trekking as you see the incredible views of four out of the five highest peaks in the world, Mt. Kangchenjunga, Mt. Everest, Mt. Makalu and Mt. Lhotse.
